Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of DOKU-RIN (the "Service") operated by Tōjinsha (the "Operator"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

This English translation is a courtesy; the Japanese version is the binding text.

1. Definitions

• "User" means any person using the Service.
• "Guest user" means a user identified only by a device-local user_id.
• "Registered user" means a user signed in via Clerk.
• "Backer" means a registered user enrolled in the backer plan (¥500 / month).

2. Service description

DOKU-RIN is a diary app for organising negative feelings. Posted text receives an emotion label and is recorded as the user raises a staged "dokurin" character. The Service does not aim to provide encouragement, advice, or rebuttal.

3. Accounts

• Guest users are identified by an anonymous user_id stored locally on the device. Transfer to another device is only possible by signing in.
• Registered users are identified by Clerk authentication. Existing guest data is linked to the registered user on sign-in.
• Where the same Clerk account signs in from multiple devices, the data first linked takes precedence.

4. Posts

• The text users post is stored on the server. Third-party visibility of a post (the "shared" feature) is activated only when the user explicitly opts in.
• Shared posts are published with a nickname but contain no information directly identifying the user.
• Shared posts can be withdrawn at any time.

5. Prohibited conduct

Users must not:

• Post identifying information about third parties (personal info, contact details, SNS handles, etc.).
• Defame, libel, or post discriminatory expressions targeting third parties.
• Use the Service for commercial promotion, solicitation, or spam.
• Post content that violates applicable laws.
• Post content threatening harm to self or others (the Operator follows a separate safety protocol when such content is detected).

6. Backer plan

Terms specific to the backer plan (¥500 / month) are defined in the separate "DOKU-RIN Backer Plan Terms."

7. Service changes and suspension

The Operator may modify or suspend the Service. Material changes will be announced in advance via the Service or related channels (e.g., Discord).

8. Disclaimer

• The Service is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. Please consult an appropriate professional for distress.
• The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to network or server conditions.
• The Operator is not liable for damages arising from use or inability to use the Service, except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

9. Personal data

Handling of personal data is governed by the separate "Privacy Policy."

10. Changes to these Terms

The Operator may modify these Terms as needed. Material changes will be posted on the Service before the effective date.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Japanese law. Disputes related to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
